Minutes GPTU 4/4/07

(NB Apologies if anyone could not find the meeting, QEH was booked for a private function, we met outside and left a notice re adjournment to NT but it was probably immediately removed by security).

  1. Minutes of 7/3/2007: matters arising
    1. GPTU had not been charged for the GP conference stall.
    2. J.Healy to contact I.Wingrove re previous GPTU account.
    3. N.Walsh to write notice re GPTU for Green Activist and GP internet newsletter.
    4. P.Murry article re TU´s had not been published in latest Green World
    5. Next GP conference will be in Liverpool
    6. Possibility of CPBF speaker at separate fringe from GPTU.
    7. N.Walsh to draft letter inviting NW TUC speaker to GPTU fringe
    8. International: Some Statutes of Euro GP had been voted down, some referred to next Euro GP council in Vienna in October. J.Healy to advance motion of censure against VH.

       

  2. Minutes of AGM at Conference 23/3/2007; accuracy & matters arising.
    1. Accuracy: Speaker at Scarborough had not been J.Hendy QC
    2. Accuracy: Lancaster contact is J.Whitelegg
    3. After some email correspondence emergency NHS motion was now on GP website. S.Jeffery to be asked to put call for national strike on GP health list.
    4. The Swansea conference GPTU/GL fringe with Welsh TGWU speaker had been successful, J.Healy to circulate notes.
    5. Banner Quotations sought (PM had been given estimate of £1000)
    6. Draft statement on threat to Language teaching awaited (from S.Miles??)

       

  3. J.Healy to give GPTU report to next meeting of GPRC.

     

  4. GPTU banner to Mayday march, Clerkenwell? Appeal for support and other arrangements to be confirmed with T.Summers.

     

  5. GPTU banner/stall to Levellers day 19th May Oxford Burston event; liaise with C.Cotton.

     

  6. Motion on Workplace bullying not taken at Swansea conference, (also motions on Zimbabwe & Czech missiles).

     

  7. Northern GPTU member welcome to submit proposals (not sure re what) J.Healy to facilitate.

     

  8. D.Wall had offered to assist with TU press work.

     

  9. Next Green left meeting 14 May Brighton . Location on GL List.

     

  10. PCS/ Civil Servants latest pay award identical to NHS (i.e. below inflation). PCS mayday strike. GPTU to draft statement of support.

     

  11. Exxon protests P.Murry and other GP/GPTU members had attended with GPTU banner .

     

  12. P.Murry had attended RMT protest re Low pay for cleaners at City hall with GPTU banner on 4/4/07.(K.Livingstone had issued call for £ 7.20 per hr London minimum wage, 2 events probably not linked).

     

  13. Visit to Wm Morris gallery: See info from S.Tibbles.

     

  14. New leaflet. Versions (colour and b& w) available in Microsoft Publisher from P.Murry. Steps in train to put on GP website.

     

  15. GPTU website in development ideally hope to include interactive element.

     

  16. Next meeting 23/5/2007 QEH.

PS I seem to have omitted mention of Tolpuddle, although it was discussed, I have some leaflets re this yrs event (13-15) July if anyone is interested.
